Job Description

The Department of Philosophy at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for one (1) nine-month, limited-term position, beginning August 17, 2026 at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor for the 2026-27 academic year. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The applicant should have a PhD or the dissertation very near completion. Teaching load: three courses per term (a total of six courses). The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to teach a combination of the following: History of Modern Philosophy (Rationalists), Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Human Nature, Critical Thinking, Biomedical Ethics, Introductory Philosophy, and one additional philosophy course.
