WELCOMING YOU TO THE TEAM

As Department Manager Tender Engineering, you will lead a team of about six engineers who develop and document technical solutions and provide cost input for high-voltage (HV) subsea cable systems in tenders and studies.

You will hold overall responsibility for all HV subsea cable system engineering activities related to tenders within PWR-T, and act as the key technical contact person for the Marketing and Sales department on tenders and related studies.

You will manage, develop and coach your team, while maintaining and further developing the procedures, templates and tools used in the technical tender process. You will also participate in and contribute to the Engineering section’s management team.

Your workplace will be Halden and Oslo, Norway. You will report to the Vice President Engineering.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

In this role, you will be responsible for all technical tender work related to subsea HV cable systems within PWR-T. This includes to facilitate and follow-up tender engineering activities, and to allocate tender engineering resources to key tasks such as:

  • Preparing technical documentation, cost calculations and risk registers for tenders.
  • Reviewing client specifications and translating them into cost-optimal technical proposals that meet project requirements.
  • Coordinating and consolidating cost input from relevant departments to ensure accurate tender costing.
  • Preparing clarifications, qualifications and exception lists for tenders.
  • Contributing to and facilitating relevant meetings in the tendering process (internal and external meetings, kick-off meetings, client meetings, etc.).
  • Performing budgetary tenders and minor technical studies as required.

You will work closely with other departments in Nexans, as well as existing and future clients, to secure robust and high-quality technical tender execution that supports winning new contracts. You will help build and sustain a positive and collaborative working environment, ensure that employees have strong technical competence and a solid understanding of technical tender execution, and that they can represent Nexans professionally in client relationships. You will also drive continuous improvement of the technical tender execution process and keep procedures, templates and tools up to date. You boost your impact by actively promoting Quality and HSE.

YOUR STARTING POINT

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline, preferably supplemented with commercially oriented or business education.
  • Proven experience from managerial or leadership roles
  • Good knowledge of Nexans’ products, systems and project execution for the HV Subsea market
  • Strong commercial awareness combined with solid technical skills
  • Good English knowledge, both written and oral
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with clients
