Job Description

LCC International University seeks candidates for a chair for its BA program in International Relations and Development (IRD) as well as candidates for a faculty position in its International Relations and Development (IRD) Department, with a primary disciplinary background in political science. The department specializes in international relations, development, and conflict studies, with growing emphasis on political theory, comparative politics, and international law. The leadership role would include a quarter-time assignment directing the program, a quarter-time assignment for research, and half-time teaching. All faculty are expected to conduct research and participate in the active intellectual life of the institution.

We are especially seeking candidates with a strong grounding in political science who can teach introductory and upper-level courses in political science and international relations. Demonstrated expertise in international law is essential, and the ability to teach political communications, international relations theory, or conflict studies is highly desirable.

The University:

LCC International University is an accredited residential university located in the Baltic Sea port city of Klaipėda, Lithuania. Our more than 500 students from diverse faith backgrounds come from nearly 60 countries for an education in the model of a North American liberal arts university with a required core curriculum from a Christian worldview. Instruction is in English.

Responsibilities for the Chair: 

  • Oversee the faculty and program curriculum in the BA program in International Relations and Development.
  • Provide vision for the program and manage schedules, communication, and planning for the department.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with higher education, governmental, international institution, and third-sector organizations to collaborate on research, practicums, internships, and career pathways for students and graduates.
  • Teach half-time in an area of specialty.

Responsibilities for the Faculty Member: 

  • Teach required and elective courses in political science, international relations, and international law.
  • Conduct, present, and publish original research in an area of specialty.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to selected students about their academic programs.
  • Supervising selected student theses in the major.

Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in political science, international relations, or a closely related field by the time of appointment, with preference given to candidates eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree in international relations and at least three years of related work experience may be considered. 
  • Demonstrated competence in teaching at the undergraduate level. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to and facility with a culturally diverse student body. 
  • Ability and desire to work collegially within an interdisciplinary, Christian academic community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching and learning within a Christian worldview.
