Other: This position is grant-funded and scheduled to last approximately 3 yearsPurpose of this position: To provide exceptional customer service, reduce patient stress, improve clinic workflow, and enhance collections. Priority will be given to patients who have the most emergent medical needs. This role involves ensuring that patients receive timely care for dental clearance required for other complex health issues. Additionally, it includes addressing insurance coverage, copays, and deductibles, as well as pursuing grant funding for patients when applicable. This position also focuses on coordinated clinical needs while optimizing insurance coverage. The coordinator will monitor appointments and follow up to ensure that patients complete recommended care and notify the physician and dentist when there are barriers.RESPONSIBILITIESTrack patients that are referred for dental clearance as they go through the dental clearance process and provide assistance as needed to assure timely progressionObtain benefit informationReview treatment plans and coordinate appointmentsAssess and expedite Hennepin Healthcare patients who urgently need dental clearance treatment completed for their health issuesWhen available, provide assistance as needed for other urgent needs within Hennepin HealthcareCollaborate with dental staff to review treatment plans and make necessary adjustments related to care, insurance, or financesVerify insurance coverage and inform patients of any out-of-pocket costsReview prior authorization denials or approvals and coordinate the next steps if necessaryCreate and update payment plansManage new patient referrals
Ensure accurate patient accounts and billing
Perform any other assigned duties
Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in a dental field
-OR-5 years of experience in a dental clinic focused on front desk, insurance, and/or office management
-OR-An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree with some dental focus and business backgroundKnowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:Knowledge of specialty healthcare and dentistryKnowledge of dental insurance and financial coordinationExcellent communication skills in person and on telephoneExcellent customer service skillsKnowledge of medical terminologyAdvanced computer skillsAbility to work effectively with othersAbility to work independently and efficientlyExceptional time management skillsAbility to adapt to changing priorities and regulationsEssential knowledge of dental insurance coverages and programs,including prior authorization, payment plans, and collecting co-pays or
