Dentist

Our client is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive oral healthcare at a clinic on Kwajalein, U.S. Marshall Islands. This is a small, manageable clinic (approximately 4-6 patients per day, including hygiene patients) providing general dentistry, including examinations, preventive care, restorative treatment, routine extractions, treatment of dental infections, and emergency dental care. The Dentist will be the only dentist on island and will provide clinical oversight and direction to a small dental support team, while formal administrative supervision remains within the Medical Services management structure.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic dental procedures.
• Conduct oral examinations, interpret x-rays, and develop treatment plans.
• Administer local anesthesia and sedation as appropriate for procedures.
• Provide restorative and routine surgical/extraction dental care appropriate to the capabilities of the clinic.
• Manage dental emergencies and determine when a patient requires a higher level of care.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, disease prevention, and post-procedure care.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records using Dentrix dental practice management software.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health personnel to coordinate patient care.
• Provide clinical oversight and direction to the on-site dental support team, consisting of a Dental Hygienist, Dental Assistant/Technician, and Dental Administrator/support staff.
• Maintain dental equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for all procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school.
• Minimum 10 years of professional clinical practice as a licensed dentist.
• Current, active, unrestricted dental license in at least one U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or a Red Cross-approved program.
• Normal competency with general dental equipment and dental radiography.
• Ability to operate independently in a deployed, austere, or resource-limited environment.
• Ability to meet all medical, security, credentialing, and deployment requirements.
• Willingness to travel to Greenville, SC for training prior to mobilization to the program.
• Some on-call may apply.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, particularly for providing care in emergencies or hospital settings.
• Prior experience with Dentrix dental practice management software; candidates with experience in another dental practice-management system can be trained on the local workflow.

Education

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school.

Travel/Deployment Requirements

• Travel to Greenville, SC for training is required prior to mobilization to the program. This is a deployed, austere/resource-limited overseas assignment; the Dentist will be the only dentist on island, supported by an on-site Dental Hygienist and Dental Assistant.

Compensation & Benefits

• $200,000 - $207,000 Total Compensation
