This is a Pooled position. HCCH is not actively hiring a Dental Sterilization Technician for this location, but is accepting applications for future needs.

Job Title: Dental Sterilization Technician

Department: Dental

Immediate Supervisor: Dental Site Lead (site specific)

General overview of position: A nonexempt position responsible for a variety of duties in

relation to the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of dental instruments

utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Dental Sterilization Technician

  1. Collect used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
  2. Clean equipment, instruments, and supplies of contaminants by removing waste matter
  3. Prepare and package decontaminated instruments for sterilization
  4. Operate, monitor, and maintain sterilization equipment accurately and safely.
  5. Ensure the sterilization of instruments and supplies are in accordance with the standards of regulatory agencies, including OSHA and the CDC
  6. Maintain appropriate records/logs, and monitor quality control and infection control standards.
  7. Properly dispose of all biohazardous material
  8. Assist in cleaning and disinfecting dental operatories as needed.
  9. May be required on occasion to assist chairside for charting/recording patient information for certain provider types or when short staffed.
  10. This position requires the employee to be on their feet for several hours while tasks are being completed.
  11. Perform other related activities, as required, to assure safe patient care and to maintain the highest standards of infection control.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification/Licensure:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR certification for Health Care Providers, required.
  • Current vaccination record meeting ACIP Healthcare Workers Recommendations.
  • Must have strong time-management skills
  • Be able to travel to off-site meetings
