SALARY RANGE: $70,000 to $75,000

Reporting to the Clinic Director, the Dental Hygienist/Clinic Coordinator oversees multiple dental management programs within the clinical areas of Temple University’s School of Dentistry. The Dental Hygienist/Clinic Coordinator acts as a liaison between student dentist, clinic management, faculty and patients. He/she assists in patient assignments, monitors patient treatment plans and communicates patient status with assigned student dentist and supervising faculty. The Hygienist/Coordinator reviews patient charts and financial status with appropriate staff and assists student dentist and patient regarding co-payments, scheduling of payment and other relevant financial issues. He/she provides input into educational assessments for student dentists.

In addition, Dental Hygienist/Clinic Coordinator will also assist with managing the flow of patients being admitted to clinic, tracking student attendance and generating reports for clinical administration, and managing patient recalls.

Aside from the above responsibilities the Clinical Director will also be expected to work as a clinician as needed. Specific responsibilities will include direct patient care, managing patient re-call and coordinating scheduling treatments. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
Registered Dental Hygienist with current Pennsylvania License or eligibility for license and a minimum of three years clinical experience including managing clinical practice and working with a computerized Dental Clinic Management System.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Must be able to travel between our clinical locations in Philadelphia and Tamaqua as needed.
*Ability to obtain PA Child Abuse Clearances.
*Extreme attention to detail.
*Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with internal staff and external customers.
*Strong work ethic and ability to demonstrate self-motivation, initiative and resourcefulness.
*A proven track record in maintaining discretion and confidential information.
*Ability to independently prioritize, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
*Ability to function independently and efficiently without direct supervision.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
*Experience working in an educational setting.
*Dental team management experience

Essential duties:
*Monitor patient treatment plans.
**Communicate patient status with assigned student dentist and supervising faculty.
*Assist in patient assignments.
*Review patient charts and patient financial status with assigned student dentist and appropriate staff.
*Assist student dentist and patient regarding co-payments, scheduling of payment and other relevant financial issues.
*Interface with faculty and clinic management on course of action based upon collected data.
*Act as liaison between student dentist, clinic management, faculty and patient.
*Provide educational assessments.
*Knowledge of CDT Codes and dental care.
*Assisting students with scaling teeth,
*Giving chairside demonstrations,
*Providing prophylaxis care,
*Supervising the scaling of the patients seen by students and evaluation of their technique.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
