Job Description

Company Description

Join the team at Coastal Orthodontics as a Casual Dental Assistant and become part of a supportive, experienced team delivering specialist orthodontic care to children, teens and adults across the Tweed and Southern Gold Coast.

Based in Tweed Heads, we’re passionate about creating a positive experience for every patient who walks through our doors, while also creating a workplace where our team enjoys coming to work, feels supported and has opportunities to grow.

Job Description

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Dental Assistant to join our team on a casual basis, working approximately 3 to 4 days per week.

This is a great opportunity for someone with the right attitude who is keen to learn, develop their skills and become part of a busy specialist orthodontic practice.

No previous dental experience is necessary. We’re happy to provide training to the right person who brings initiative, reliability, a positive attitude and a genuine interest in learning.

What your days look like:

You’ll work alongside our amazing clinical team to help create a smooth, positive patient journey from the moment a patient enters the clinic through to the completion of their appointment.

You’ll support our orthodontists and clinical team throughout the day, prepare for appointments, assist chairside and help keep the clinic organised and flowing efficiently.

Every day is varied, with the opportunity to learn different aspects of orthodontic treatment while building great relationships with our patients and team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures
  • Assisting with consultations, records, braces, clear aligners, retainers and other orthodontic procedures
  • Cleaning, sterilising and maintaining instruments in accordance with infection control standards
  • Setting up materials, instruments and equipment required for procedures
  • Supporting the orthodontist and clinical team to keep appointments running efficiently
  • Maintaining clean, organised and well-stocked clinical areas
  • Assisting with patient records, photographs, scans and other clinical processes as training progresses
  • Providing a warm and reassuring experience for patients throughout their appointments
  • Following practice procedures, infection control requirements and workplace health and safety standards
  • Contributing to a positive and supportive team environment

Qualifications

Experience is not essential. We’re more interested in finding someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Shows initiative and is happy to get involved
  • Is reliable, organised and takes pride in their work
  • Has a warm, friendly and professional manner
  • Communicates confidently with both patients and teammates
  • Is eager to learn and develop new skills
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Can stay organised in a fast-paced environment
  • Is adaptable and willing to support the team wherever needed
  • Has a genuine interest in patient care

Previous dental assisting experience or a Certificate III in Dental Assisting would be welcomed, but is not essential.
