The Dental Assistant will support dentists during procedures, prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and provide excellent patient care. The ideal candidate should be organized, have strong communication skills, and be committed to ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for every patient. This position will work in the operating room as well as the clinic.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED PLUS completion of a dental assisting training program AND a minimum of 1 year of experience as a dental assistant.

  • Must be currently licensed/certified in the State of Arkansas as a registered dental assistant

  • Candidates must meet the training and experience qualifications in order to be considered, and are advised to contact the training facility/source to verify accreditation status.

  • Must be trained in four-handed dentistry;

  • Must possess a thorough working knowledge of Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes, OSHA regulations, and the Arkansas Dental Practice Act.

  • Must possess a permit for the following expanded functions: 1) radiography, 2) coronal polishing, and 3) nitrous oxide administration.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and assist dental hygienists in the delivery of dental procedures in the Oral Health Clinic

  • Guide patients through dental processes before treatment,

  • Educate patients in oral hygiene instruction and provide postoperative instructions

  • Perform assessments that include obtaining and reviewing patient health histories

  • Taking/recording blood pressure and other vital signs

  • Perform appropriate dental charting and treatment documentation in the electronic record

  • Expose and process dental radiographs of diagnostic quality

  • Administer nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia and monitor sedation cases

  • Perform coronal polishing

  • Perform in-office whitening

  • Perform daily and routine maintenance of dental hygiene equipment as assigned

  • Clean and sterilize dental instruments, supplies, and dental assist units, and maintain

  • Organization and supply ofthe sterilization area

  • Establish and maintain an organized, efficient, cost-effective inventory control system

  • Continually monitoring supply levels and re-ordering by working with athe ssigned purchaser

  • Maintain a stock of daily supplies in all hygiene clinic rooms

  • Review daily schedules and resolve conflicts as necessary

  • Perform a variety of clerical and administrative duties (answer telephones.

  • Make appointments, and other duties as assigned

  • Assist with front desk/business administration duties as assigned

  • Perform duties as assigned.
