Job Description

Assists in providing dental care to pediatric patients by preparing treatment rooms, taking x-rays, assisting dentists, and educating patients and parents. Essential Functions:

  • Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
  • Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
  • Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
  • Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.


Education Requirement:

Graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience, required.


Licensure Requirement:

Current license to practice dental radiography in State of Ohio, required.

Skills:

  • Robust communication skills, required.
  • Demonstratedability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients.
  • Possesses good manual dexterity.
  • Abilityto monitor nitrous oxide and patient after analgesia is administered.


Experience:

Two years of experience as a chairside assistant, required.
