An Orthodontic Assistant supports an orthodontist by assisting with patient care and office tasks, including preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, taking X-rays and impressions, adjusting braces, and educating patients on oral hygiene

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance to the orthodontist during patient exams, consultations, and orthodontic procedures
• Take and develop dental X-rays and take impressions or digital scans of patients' teeth for treatment planning
• Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
• Sterilize instruments according to regulations
• Take and develop dental X-rays and take impressions or digital scans of patients' teeth for treatment planning
• Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
• Assist with the fitting, adjustment, and removal of orthodontic appliances such as braces, retainers, and aligners
• Other duties as assigned to assist team

• Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
• Understanding of health & safety regulations
• Good computer skills
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Attention to detail
• Well-organized and reliable
• Enjoys a busy active day
• Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. N2O)
• Bilingual a plus!

• CPR Certified
• Sterilization and Infection Control Certification
• DAI Certification
• Radiology Certification
