ChristianaCare Hospital Dentistry Clinic is located in Wilmington, Delaware. For more than 60 years, the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Dentistry has provided high‑quality, low‑cost dental care to uninsured and underinsured members of the community. Services are delivered by dental residents who have completed dental school and are pursuing an additional year of hospital-based training. Care is closely supervised by dedicated volunteer community dentists and experienced faculty members.

The Dental Assistant II supports dental and oral surgery clinics by preparing patients, sterilizing instruments, assisting chairside, and reinforcing post-procedure care while maintaining strict infection control standards. They also provide lab and radiology support, including impressions and dental imaging, and handle clerical tasks such as scheduling, records management, and billing, while delivering strong communication and customer service.

What Makes a Successful Dental Assistant at ChristianaCare:
A successful Dental Assistant has strong knowledge of dental techniques, instruments, materials, and radiologic procedures, along with proficiency in sterilization and infection control. They demonstrate excellent manual dexterity, skill in four-handed dentistry, oral surgery support, impressions, and dental X-rays, including assisting with sedation or anesthesia. Strong communication, patient support, confidentiality, and safe equipment use are essential.

Hourly Pay Range: $21.03 - $31.54This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
