RATE OF PAY/SALARY: $23.00-$26.00 per hour

General Purpose:

To provide chair side assistance to dental providers during examination and dental procedures.

Description of Duties:

  • Provide chair side assistance to the dental providers during examination and treatment of patients.
  • Prepare patients and operatory for dental treatment including but not limited to preparing and arranging the dental instruments, restorative cement, materials and medications on the chair side tray.
  • Sterilize instruments and equipment by using autoclave or chemical disinfectants as per CORNERSTONE infection control policies and OSHA guidelines.
  • Take, develop, mount and file x-rays.
  • Provide post-operative instructions and follow-up appointments for patients.
  • Perform laboratory procedures by fabricating models from impressions taken by the dentist.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment such as proper sterilization and lubrication of hand pieces, dental chairs, etc. as per CORNERSTONE infection control policies and OSHA guidelines.
  • Monitor patient’s prosthesis by logging cases leaving CORNERSTONE and returning from Dental Lab.
  • Provide appointments for patients when prosthesis returns.
  • Maintain orderly, well stocked and clean treatment rooms and lab.
  • Assists the front office with patient registration, filing and pulling charts and making confirmation appointment calls as directed by the Dental Office Coordinator.
  • Provide intake procedures, such as to obtain patient’s past and present medical histories, vital signs and record correct information in patient’s dental record.
  • Attend and participate in monthly department, All Staff and other required meetings.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all clinical, administrative, and general policies and procedures as outlined in the CORNERSTONE Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of CORNERSTONE including, but not limited to, patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Dental Assistant Certificate or 2-4 years of experience working as a Dental Assistant
  • Current BLS certification
