Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists and hygienists during chairside procedures in a general dental practice setting

  • Prepare treatment rooms by setting up instruments, materials, and equipment

  • Provide compassionate, clear communication and support to patients throughout their visit

  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments, equipment, and clinical areas

  • Accurately document patient information and treatment notes in accordance with policy

  • Maintain inventory by ordering, stocking, and tracking supplies

  • Identify and communicate patient medical or social concerns to the dental team

  • Follow standards and guidelines set by the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Board, and National Network of Oral Health Access

  • Perform other duties as needed to support smooth clinic operations

Education, Experience & Credentials

  • High school diploma preferred, but not required

  • Current CPR certification required

  • BLS certification required (may be obtained after hire)

  • Previous dental assisting experience preferred, but not required

Additional Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn, strong communication skills, and ability to follow instructions accurately

  • Ability to support patients, maintain charts and reports, and complete all required training

  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, current auto insurance, and successful completion of all required background checks

  • Proof of being free from infectious or contagious diseases (e.g., TB) prior to hire and annually thereafter

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform sedentary work, including exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally

  • Frequent repetitive use of hands, fingers, and arms for assisting and documentation

  • Ability to sit for extended periods, with occasional standing and walking as needed
