Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Dentist, Dental Hygienist and Operations Manager, the Dental Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and youth-centered dental services at the Adolescent Health Center. This role assists with clinical care, patient education, infection control, and administrative support to ensure a safe, welcoming, and efficient dental environment for adolescents and young adults.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain dental examination and treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and appropriate stocking of supplies
- Perform inventory management of dental supplies and equipment; assist with ordering and restocking as needed
- Assist the Dentist during routine and complex dental procedures, including examinations, X-ray, preventive care, and treatments
- Ensure patient comfort and provide chairside support throughout dental visits
- Support patient education related to oral hygiene, preventive care, and follow-up instructions, as directed by the dental provider
- Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and organizational infection control standards
- Follow all safety, confidentiality (HIPAA), and infection prevention protocols
- Accurately document support activities as required and assist with clinical workflow
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary AHC staff to support holistic, youth-friendly care
- Phone calls, Data entry, Referrals, Scheduling
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support clinic operations
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program required
- Minimum of 1 year working as a Dental Assistant.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control standards
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse youth populations in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed manner
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience with adolescents, young adults, or community health settings strongly preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
Work Schedule: Full - time, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10 am to 6 pm, Wednesday 10 am to 6:30 pm (up to 7pm as needed) on site, 35 hours a week, including some evening hours.
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10 am to 6 pm, some late evening. Wednesday 10 am to 6:30 pm (up to 7pm as needed).
Salary: $47,320 - $54,600 annually
