GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Dental Aide supports the dentist and dental team by preparing patients, clinical areas, and materials for dental procedures. The role ensures smooth daily operations, patient comfort, and strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) standards. Responsibilities also include assisting with clinical documentation, equipment maintenance, and departmental quality initiatives.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Prepare and assist patients for dental procedures by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping them in accordance with prescribed protocols.
• Support and assist dentists or specialists in performing treatments including restorative, surgical, and oral procedures by providing chairside assistance and handling instruments efficiently.
• Prepare and manage materials, equipment, and instruments for treatments, ensuring readiness, functionality, and sterilization before and after procedures.
• Maintain and organize the treatment room, ensuring cleanliness, infection control compliance, and adherence to decontamination standards after every session.
• Assist and perform basic laboratory tasks such as fabricating special trays, bite splints, and assisting with other dental lab-related work as directed.
• Provide and explain pre- and post-operative instructions to patients undergoing general or local anesthesia, ensuring proper understanding and compliance.
• Support and document treatment details, prepare dental plans and quotations, and update patient and insurance records accurately.
• Operate and maintain dental equipment, performing daily care, calibration checks, and reporting any faults or incidents to the Head of Service.
• Monitor and replenish dental materials and consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper asset care at all times.
• Assist in ordering diagnostic tests such as X-rays through the KCIS system and ensure all relevant documentation is complete.
• Participate and contribute in departmental quality improvement, ISO, MSQH, and 5S programs, maintaining safety and service excellence.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by immediate superior or hospital management

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a similar work environment.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar work environment, hospital, or clinical practice.
