As a Denman Wildlife Area Senior (Fish and Wildlife Technician Senior), at Denman Wildlife Area in Central Point, Oregon, you will assist in the management of the Denman Wildlife Area, the goals of which are to preserve and enhance habitats for all fish and wildlife species and provide outdoor recreational and educational opportunities for the public. The employee in this position acts as technical lead, assigns work to volunteers, designs, constructs and maintains new and existing facilities and structures, implements, farming and habitat improvement activities, maintains and operates vehicles, heavy equipment, implements, power and hand tools.

This position requires occasional use of a firearm. The successful candidate is required to obtain an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Safety Education Card through the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department, a Public Pesticide Applicator’s License (PPAL), and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within the first six months of appointment.

Option 1: An Associate’s degree in Wildlife Technology or Agriculture AND two years and six months of wildlife experience in a wildlife program. (Twelve months of fisheries or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience);
-OR-
Option 2: A Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Science, Agriculture, or a closely-related Bachelor’s degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework AND one year of wildlife experience in a wildlife program. (Six months of fisheries or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience)
-OR-
Option 3: Eighteen months of experience in the care of livestock, agricultural research and experimentation, monitoring game or wildlife, or farming and two years AND six months of wildlife experience in a wildlife program. (Two years of fisheries or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience)
