The Department of Neighborhood Services supports social, physical and economic resilience of Norfolk communities by engaging residents, neighborhood organizations and businesses and working with them to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods.
The Bureau of Neighborhood Quality focuses on enforcement of the Virginia Property maintenance Code and related city ordinances for the protection of public health, safety, and welfare throughout Norfolk’s neighborhoods. The Bureau also coordinates city-initiated demolition projects and administers special programs that contribute to safety across the city.
The City of Norfolk’s Department of Neighborhood Services is currently seeking an experienced Program Supervisor to assist the Programs Manager in the coordination, oversight and administration of several programs to include but not limited to: Demolition, Fire and Virginia Natural Gas Red Tags, Annual Elevator Certifications and Virginia Property Maintenance Codes.
The Program Supervisor will assist with the planning, organizing and management of programs, events and personnel. Identify trends in program outcomes and monitor program compliance.
The successful management of these programs is essential to ensuring the health and safety of Norfolk’s neighborhoods in support of property maintenance enforcement efforts.
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
