About the Opportunity

In this role as a Demi Chef, you will be responsible for assisting the effective kitchen operation and working in a team environment.

Our talented team of chefs, operate a variety of kitchens throughout the resort, including the large main production kitchen, a busy conference & events space for large groups, and various restaurant kitchens, to create dishes made from high quality produce. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional and memorable food experience to our guests.

As a Demi Chef, your key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Perform knife skills, mis en place, cooking techniques & duties
  • Produce a consistent high-quality product & standard
  • Maintain equipment, utensils and a clean & hygienic kitchen
  • Rotate stock, ensuring minimal wastage
  • Follow directions from senior chefs and work as a team player
  • Follow WHS, policies and procedures
  • RACV Inverloch Resort is open 24 hours per day, 7 days week. Our kitchen operates from early morning breakfast service, through to evening dinner service & late night in room dining. Our team work a 7 day rotating roster including evenings, weekends & public holidays. Ideally you will have full availability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Completed a Certificate 3 in Cookery qualification, recognised in Australia
  • Previous cooking experience in a 4-5 star hotel/resort commercial kitchen or similar environment
  • Developed knife, food preparation & cookery skills ie. larder, grill, buffet, short order, fine dining & functions
  • Solid knowledge of kitchen sections, service styles, mis en place procedures, food items, cookery techniques, sauces, cold larder, vegetables & butchery
  • Thrive in a large, busy & fast paced work environment, with efficiency, organisation, time management and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, can follow direction and work well in a team environment
  • Committed and a passion for cooking with a strong focus on food quality and presentation
  • Excellent personal presentation
