A Glimpse of the Job
The Delivery Specialist II is responsible for, under supervision, providing pick and delivery services for the Texas A&M University campus and local College Station-based Agencies.
Essential Duties
Meter Room
- Assists in rating, metering, and caging of mail
Collecting and Sorting Mail
- Supervises and assists with collecting, sorting, and preparing office products, parcels, mail, inter-campus mail, and some custodial products to campus customers
Training Student Workers
- Assists supervisor and mail leader in the coordination of training student workers
Delivery
- Supervises and assists with returning or recycling Texas A&M mail with local USPS
Preloads Mail
- Ensures that the vehicle is properly maintained
Pre/Post Trip Vehicle
- Ensures that the vehicle is properly maintained
Special Pick Up and Deliveries
- Participates in special mail pick-ups and deliveries
Machines or equipment used in the performance of essential duties
- University Delivery Vehicle- 15 hours
- Mail Meter- 5 hours
- Computer- 1 hour
- Delivery Cart- 1 hour
Physical Requirements
- May require lifting and/or moving heavy items
What You Need to Know
Salary: $16.50/hour or commensurate with experience
Cover Letter/Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended.
Required Education and Experience
- High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience
- One year of delivery experience to include familiarity with loading, unloading, preparing, inspecting, and operating a delivery vehicle using delivery and pick-up methods
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Inability to obtain a valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License may result in termination
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with mail routes, bulk mail, and meter room procedures, including operation of postage computer
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Qualifications
- One to two years of college coursework
- TAMU Mail Service or equivalent experience
