The Role:

The purpose of this role is to provide essential logistical and administrative support to the Teaching Operations team, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of daily teaching activities. Reporting to the Teaching Operations Manager or Coordinator, the Assistant helps prepare teaching spaces, supports materials and equipment logistics, and assists with routine operational tasks. The role plays a key part in maintaining readiness and responsiveness in the teaching environment, contributing to a high-quality learner and teacher experience.

Accountabilities:

Customer Experience

  • Receives and responds to customer enquiries, identifying complex issues that require escalation to others for resolution.
  • Recognises the impact of incidents (e.g., child protection, behaviour management, or technical difficulties) and proactively alerts the team leader to issues affecting delivery.
  • Monitors the movement of Young Learner students to ensure they remain safe and on the premises, escalating issues to the academic team.

Service Delivery

  • Delivers a range of administrative and customer services within agreed corporate procedures to maximise quality, continuity, and efficiency.
  • Provides logistical support to the delivery of teaching and registration, including setting up classrooms as per British Council standards and rearranging furniture.
  • Proactively communicates and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of events and services.
  • Ensures classroom Interactive Whiteboards (IWBs) are functioning through basic troubleshooting and reports premises maintenance issues to the Business Operations team.

General Administration & Resource Management

  • Assists in office administrative tasks including clerical work, filing, scanning, archiving, and updating databases while maintaining accurate records.
  • Monitors and takes responsibility for small-scale resources, cash, and stock to ensure equipment and materials are ready for use.
  • Acts as the point of contact for all deliveries for the Teaching Centre and monitors building cleanliness to ensure standards are met.

Managing Self and Others

  • Plans and prioritises own work activities to respond to changing requirements over a daily/weekly time horizon.
  • Tasks and coordinates external contractors to complete straightforward activities, monitoring completion to agreed quality and time standards.

Role Specific Skills:

  • Experience working in a multi-cultural organisation in an international context.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with employees and management to achieve the delivery of high quality and effective professional services.
  • Experience of working in an educational institution. (Desirable)

Education:

Essential: High School Certificate

Desirable: University Graduate or Diploma in any field.

Language Requirements: The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.
