Job Description

At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

The Patient Insights Software Chapter, within the Architecture and Software Engineering global function, aims to leverage software engineering as a competitive advantage for Roche, empowering patients and healthcare professionals to deliver better care.

We are looking for a Delivery Manager to play the Release Train Engineer (RTE) role for Accu-Chek Care to lead and improve software delivery management across its teams. Accu-Chek Care is the integrated digital ecosystem that empowers Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) — moving from standalone tools to a unified platform that enhances clinical decision-making and operational efficiency.

As RTE you lead and take ownership of Product Delivery within Engineering. This is an operationally hands-on role focused on engineering best practices, tooling standards, regulatory compliance, project management and scaled agile leadership. You are the orchestrator with a single goal: ensure effective and efficient product delivery — on time, within budget, and with the expected level of product quality — while actively leveraging AI-enabled tools and analytics to enhance predictability, performance and operating model effectiveness at scale.

If you are passionate about agile software delivery, a strong people leader, an empathic communicator, a team player, and excited to help build an AI-augmented delivery ecosystem, this role is for you.

Your Responsibilities

1. Delivery Leadership & Coordination

  • ART Leadership: As a member of the ART leadership team, drive alignment, support decision-making, and ensure the train delivers value effectively, on time, within budget and with the expected level of product quality.
  • Agile Governance: Facilitate key ceremonies (PI Plannings, Demos, Inspect & Adapt, refinements, syncs, and retrospectives) ensuring the ART maintains alignment, coordination and focus on clear priorities.
  • Risk & Dependency Management: Proactively map cross-team dependencies, monitor technical/delivery risks, and make impediments visible to resolve them early, leveraging AI-powered forecasting.
  • Value Optimization: Oversee the release process, backlog prioritization, integration needs (within the product and as part of the larger solution) and end-to-end flow of value across the platform to enable predictable, sustainable and high-performing delivery..
  • Financial & Capacity Tracking: Oversee the allocated budget to define and adapt team structures to context changes, identifying opportunities to optimize engineering delivery.
  • Operational Readiness: Support overall audit readiness and cross-functional coordination, ensuring that train delivery milestones naturally align with organizational standards and release guardrails.

2. Ways of Working & Continuous Improvement

  • Process Evolution: Support the evolution of roles, ceremonies, processes, and tools to reduce complexity, eliminate waste and make daily work easier for teams.
  • AI & Analytics: Drive continuous improvement by identifying systemic inefficiencies through data-driven insights and automated analytics, including AI-enabled process optimization.
  • Engineering Standards: Promote robust engineering practices that naturally embed quality guardrails, cybersecurity awareness and technical documentation (such as SBOM) directly into continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with other RTEs across the organization to share and leverage learnings, strengthening capabilities as an active member of the ASE Delivery Community.

3. High-Performing Teams & Culture

  • Servant Leadership: Foster trust, autonomy, open communication, and early collaboration across teams. Empower teams to self-organize, develop themselves and reach their commitments.
  • Agile Coaching: Coach teams and leaders on Agile, Lean, and leveraging AI tools responsibly to improve productivity and engineering excellence.
  • Accountability: Hold teams accountable for delivering to agreed engineering standards, stepping in to cover critical gaps when required, without becoming the default solution for unresolved work.

Successful Behaviors

  • Systems Thinker: Views the organization as an interconnected network, identifying how localized changes impact the broader delivery ecosystem.
  • Collaborator & Connector: Encourages collaboration across teams and actively engages with stakeholders across organizations (R&D, Business, Q&R, UX, Affiliates) to manage expectations and align goals.
  • Empathetic Influencer: Creates an environment of trust and mutual influence, navigating complex environments while maintaining an agile mindset.

Who You Are

  • Experience: 10+ years in Delivery Lead, RTE, or Solution Train Engineer roles, specializing in software/product development and large-scale global programs.
  • Agile & SAFe Expertise: 4+ years of experience acting as an RTE or Agile Lead; SAFe certification (e.g., RTE, Agilist, SPC) is highly preferred.
  • Domain Knowledge: Deep expertise in software/systems engineering within the healthcare, diagnostics or digital health sectors.
  • Tech-Savviness: Experience applying AI-enabled tools and engineering metrics to improve delivery, predictability and operational excellence.
  • Master Communicator: Skilled at communicating complex technical or program insights clearly to senior leadership, engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Academic Background: Degree in a STEM field.
