Job Description

In the context of GE Vernova Digital Grid Software projects execution within the Services organization, Delivery Managers ensure coordination with implementation Services teams including Solution Design, Solution Integration and Global Delivery Centres, as well as Engineering teams, and work closely with the client.

Key Responsibilities

GE Vernova Digital is the world leader for Grid Software solutions enabling companies world-wide to optimize their control of the Grid and the transformation towards sustainable energy sources. Our teams contribute to major infrastructure projects delivering Transmission, Distribution and Market systems part of the national and regional coordination of electricity on all continents.

  • The Services Delivery Manager owns the project’s Delivery Model and is the Technical Leader on the Project, working with highly skilled teams to manage and execute software deployment, configuration, integration and testing.
  • Project Execution control: Building effective Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), activity tracking to update Project Manager on progress, implementing the delivery with Agile methodology when applicable.
  • Share responsibility with the Project Manager (PM), through close coordination, for scope management (change requests assessment), risk management and problem management.
  • Contribute to Customer management activities for technical coordination establishing trust meeting delivery commitments, together with the Project Manager who owns the Customer relationship.
  • Accountable for the end-to-end project delivery to meet the schedule, cost and quality commitments.
  • Trigger and validate engineering Gate Reviews (Solution, Factory Testing Readiness, Site Acceptance Readiness).
  • Utilize GE Product knowledge and expertise to drive excellence in execution through continuous improvement, change management and Agile / DevOps delivery methodologies.
  • Validate project scope review in coordination with the Solution Design team identifying, documenting, and estimating any change requests (CR) or project risks with mitigation plans. Work with Project Manager to communicate with customer.
  • Assist tendering with the validation of the delivery model and estimations in coordination with the Regional Operations team and the Global Workforce Manager.
  • Work with Project Manager to report or resolve any process non-conformances in a timely manner
  • Ensure a smooth transfer to maintenance of ending projects through coordinated knowledge transfer.
  • Comply and contribute to elaboration of relevant Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes in Quality Management System
  • Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented in their area of liability
  • Demonstrates and encourages positive, customer focus with a ‘can do’ attitude;
  • Performance Measurement indicators: On Time Delivery, Cost to Complete, Committed budget (effort) deviation, Software Delivery Processes Compliance, Customer Satisfaction

Additional Responsibilities

  • Analyse, define and prioritize Business and Functional requirements and processes and propose technical solutions to meet the business issues and close inefficiency gaps
  • Responsibility for the Business requirements through the entire lifecycle of the project from definition, implementation, test and delivery
  • Create and maintain relationships with key decision makers, stakeholders and 3rd Parties
  • Participate & lead technical requirements workshops
  • Write and present technical proposals and presentations
  • Ability to take ownership of issues and get them resolved using self-driven initiative

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience. Ideal subjects: Computer Science, Information Technology, Physics, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline

Essential Criteria

  • Proven years of experience in Services directing the delivery of complex software solutions
  • Proven experience in a senior technical role within a system integrator or Software Consultancy practice
  • Proven experience in defining and managing delivery teams
  • Proven experience in defining and assigning work packages
  • DevOps and Agile methodology
  • Industry knowledge in the field of operation and multi sites project organizations
  • Process and methodology oriented
  • Highly collaborative and able to work across the organization to accomplish common goals.
  • Ability to focus on the critical business outcomes and drive teams to achieving these goals
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Operate with and influence senior client stakeholders
  • Ability and willingness to travel (subject to project demands, candidate would need to travel to customer sites, both internally and outside of UK).

Desired Characteristics

It would be highly desirable to have some experience with:

  • Experience with Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) Electrical Networks or Energy Management Systems (EMS)
  • Industry knowledge in the field of operation and multi sites project organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with global teams / partners
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to remotely drive people towards a common goal
  • Software configuration management
  • Good knowledge of IT and cybersecurity environments including Linux and Windows operating systems, Kubernetes, Relational Databases, HW infrastructure, High Availability multitier architectures, Telecom and Network Equipment
  • Experience delivering solutions on premise and cloud
  • Strong background in integration aspects related to computer systems
  • Familiar with Atlassian suite, JIRA collaboration tools, Confluence
  • Software development experience and version control (Github)
  • Continuous integration (Jenkins)
  • Scripting: shell, perl, phyton
  • Web services (SOAP, REST)
  • SCADA protocols
  • Power flow studies, DERMS, AMI
