Overview

We are seeking an experienced industry leader to build and lead our Real Time Systems (RTS) delivery capability serving utilities and critical infrastructure customers across the UK and Europe.

This role will be responsible for providing strategic, technical, and delivery leadership to clients while working closely with the VP Delivery to establish a scalable, sustainable RTS delivery team across onshore UK, nearshore, and offshore locations. The successful candidate will be accountable for developing the delivery capability, skills, standards, and resource capacity required to successfully deliver RTS projects across technologies provided through TRC's partner network.

The successful candidate will be a recognised subject matter expert within utility operational technology and real-time operational systems, possessing deep expertise in areas such as network operations, control room technologies, Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), SCADA, Outage Management Systems (OMS), Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), and grid modernisation.

They will act as a trusted advisor to utility operational, engineering, IT, and OT stakeholders, helping customers define and execute their operational technology and digital transformation strategies.

Beyond customer engagement, the role will be accountable for developing the RTS delivery organisation, including workforce planning, recruitment, capability development, technical governance, delivery quality, and resource management. The role will also work closely with the Chief Architect to establish reference architectures, implementation standards, and repeatable delivery approaches that drive consistency, quality, and efficiency across projects.

Responsibilities

Operational & Technical Advisory

· Act as a trusted advisor to utility operations, engineering, IT, and OT teams.

· Provide industry expertise on network operations, control room technologies, operational technology environments, and grid modernisation initiatives.

· Support customers in defining operational processes, system enhancements, target operating models, and future technology roadmaps.

· Lead or support advisory engagements including assessments, discovery activities, strategy development, roadmap definition, and business case preparation.

· Provide independent expert guidance on RTS solutions, implementation approaches, and transformation programmes.

· Contribute technical expertise to customer workshops, proposals, and solution development activities.

Technical Leadership

· Provide deep technical expertise across Real Time Systems technologies delivered through TRC's partner network.

· Lead solution design discussions, implementation planning, architecture reviews, and technical governance activities.

· Support delivery teams in resolving complex technical and operational challenges.

· Ensure successful alignment between business processes, operational requirements, and technology solutions.

· Act as the senior technical escalation point for RTS project delivery.

· Promote technical excellence, quality, and best practices across all RTS engagements.

Delivery Leadership

· Provide technical leadership and delivery oversight across RTS projects and programmes.

· Work closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

· Support project planning, resource allocation, risk management, issue resolution, and delivery governance activities.

· Ensure projects are appropriately staffed with suitably qualified resources.

· Establish and promote delivery methodologies, quality processes, and implementation standards.

· Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, delivery reviews, and operational best practices.

RTS Delivery Team Development

· Partner with the VP Delivery to define and execute the strategy for growing the RTS delivery team.

· Build a scalable delivery organisation spanning onshore UK, nearshore, and offshore resources.

· Develop recruitment, training, certification, mentoring, and career development programmes.

· Define workforce plans aligned with market demand, project pipelines, and strategic business objectives.

· Ensure TRC develops and maintains the required expertise across technologies delivered through its partner network.

· Build a sustainable pipeline of RTS specialists capable of supporting future customer growth.

· Develop future technical leaders and subject matter experts within the organisation.

Architecture & Standards

· Work closely with the Chief Architect to define and maintain reference architectures across RTS solutions delivered through TRC's partner ecosystem.

· Develop repeatable implementation approaches, delivery methods, standards, and technical frameworks.

· Ensure solution architectures align with cybersecurity, operational resilience, and enterprise architecture principles.

· Support architecture reviews, technical assurance activities, and design governance processes.

· Drive standardisation and reusability across projects to improve delivery quality, consistency, and efficiency.

· Translate project lessons learned into improved delivery standards, reference architectures, and implementation methodologies.

Team Growth & Market Development

· Support business development, solution shaping, and proposal development activities.

· Help define service offerings across advisory, implementation, integration, testing, and managed services.

· Build strong relationships with customers, technology partners, and industry stakeholders.

· Contribute to the growth of TRC's RTS capabilities through thought leadership and market engagement.

· Support account growth through trusted advisory relationships and successful project delivery.

Essential Experience

· Significant experience working within utility operational technology and Real Time Systems environments.

· Strong understanding of control room operations, network management, and utility IT/OT architectures.

· Deep expertise in one or more RTS technologies such as ADMS, SCADA, OMS, DERMS, or related operational platforms.

· Experience delivering complex utility transformation and system integration programmes.

· Proven ability to engage with operational users, engineers, IT teams, and technical stakeholders.

· Demonstrated success building and growing technical delivery teams and delivery capabilities.

· Experience working with blended onshore, nearshore, and offshore delivery models.

· Experience supporting Project Managers in the successful delivery of large-scale technology projects.

· Experience providing advisory and consulting services to utility or critical infrastructure customers.

Qualifications

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
