Job Title: Delivery Lead

Department: Information Technology

FLSA Exempt

General Function:

The Delivery Lead is a technically-minded, servant-leader and agile practitioner on one of the Hy-Vee product delivery teams. Your primary customer responsibility is your team and managing delivery to meet the needs of your business stakeholders. Your focus is two-fold:

  • Use agile best practices to develop and optimize the way your teams work together to ship products and continuously deliver
  • Work with other internal unit counterparts in IT to identify and manage the risks and dependencies that may impede your team

A successful Delivery Lead will create durable teams with improved software delivery throughput and relationships with other business units stakeholders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help the team execute the vision and strategy for the product implementation and integration with other systems in the Hy-Vee product ecosystem.
  • Interface with other units teams to help identify, manage and resolve dependencies and risks facing your team.
  • Assist product owners, tech leads, and business stakeholders to help capture, track and update requirements.
  • Autonomously identify and mitigate team performance issues, as well as celebrate team successes.
  • Work with tech lead to coordinate and oversee the release management process.
  • Assist engineering teams in estimating and capturing the size and scope of proposed work.
  • Provide visibility into delivery targets, commitments and progress.
  • Lead, adopt and optimize agile best practices to ensure the team production throughput is predictable and responds to shifts in team and business dynamics.
  • Create documentation of new features and ensure support is onboarded and aware of how to support new features and functionality.
  • Develop and maintain standards and disciplined use of team tools, roadmaps, information radiators, etc.
  • Lead triage, analysis, resolution and communication of production issues for your team and across teams as necessary.
  • Work with the team to identify and monitor key performance indicators for team health and product progress.
  • Develop and constantly refine cadence meetings to be as productive as possible.
  • Work with your product owners to ensure backlog is aligned with overall product roadmap.
  • Work with the technical members of the team to ensure that production vision and technical execution are in harmony.
  • Craft technical documentation and informational content that quickly conveys high-value information to stakeholders.
  • Help ensure and set team goals that are achievable yet challenging.
  • Coaches the team to improve collaboration and self-organization.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Cross functional leadership skills to execute product strategy
  • Multiple years of hands-on experience as a Delivery Lead/Scrum Master
  • Experience working within an environment with a Continuous Discovery/Delivery mindset
  • Multiple years of experience working directly with software engineers
  • Ability to learn new domains quickly
  • Desire to grow as an individual through continuously learning new techniques

Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports):

May lead and direct the work of others but no direct reports

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
  • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: operating a computer, occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: meeting with customers, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

The duties for this position are performed in a general or remote office setting. There is weekly pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.

Laptop and desktop computer, telephone, copier, Fax, printer, PC with Microsoft Office programs and other software relevant to specific position.
