When we do everything in service of our patients and caregivers, no detail gets ignored. On our facilities team, your job will be to create a comfortable and safe environment — just like our patients have come to expect. As a Delivery Assistant, you are responsible for monitoring chute rooms, answering calls to take emergency orders, delivering additional support and working the scrub window. This position offers an excellent way to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience for patients, their families and your fellow caregivers every day.

A caregiver in this role works evenings from 12:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. or 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with rotating weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Receive scrubs and place them in proper inventory area.

  • Distribute clean uniforms while working in the uniform room.

  • Answer the telephone to take linen orders and process orders according to established procedures.

  • Maintain written records of orders filled and processed.

  • Deliver clean linen exchange carts to hospital departments/units in a prompt and courteous manner.

  • Retrieve empty clean linen, exchange carts and stage carts for pick up.

  • Deliver empty soiled linen carts to hospital departments/units in a prompt and courteous manner.

  • Retrieve soiled linen in prescribed containers in accordance with all sanitary and safety policies and procedures.

  • Monitor and empty all soiled linen chute rooms.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Completion of eighth grade

  • Ability to communicate effectively follow written and/or oral instructions

  • Ability to use care and attention in the use of equipment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Knowledge of building


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
