The Deli Supervisor is a key person to ensure that the deli delivers both exceptional food and outstanding service. They would need to balance the creative aspects of being a chef with the organizational and leadership skills of a supervisor, all while maintaining the standards of the establishment. This role requires a combination of culinary expertise, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of the deli's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the deli team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
Provide guidance and support to deli staff, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
Address and resolve any employee or customer issues promptly and professionally.
Ensure that all customers receive excellent service, with prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable assistance.
Handle customer complaints and inquiries, resolving issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and products, to ensure adequate stock without over-ordering.
Monitor product freshness and expiration dates, rotating stock as necessary.
Oversee the preparation and presentation of deli products, ensuring they meet quality standards.
Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of products.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment and utensils.
Ensure that deli displays are attractive, well-stocked, and accurately priced.
Implement promotions and special offers to boost sales.
Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies to meet sales targets.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; additional culinary or management training preferred.
Previous experience in a deli or food service environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Food Safety Certification required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management systems.
Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in a refrigerated environment.
