Our client is a leading hospitality group bringing together five unique restaurants in Malta, each offering its own distinctive dining experience while sharing a passion for genuine Italian cuisine, exceptional food, and warm hospitality.

Our client is looking for a friendly and customer-focused Deli Counter Assistant / Salumeria Specialist to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for serving customers, preparing and presenting a selection of quality Italian deli products, and ensuring an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
• Prepare and serve a selection of Italian cold cuts, cheeses, antipasti, and other deli products.
• Slice and portion products accurately according to customer requirements.
• Prepare deli boards, platters, sandwiches, and other food items as required.
• Provide customers with information and recommendations regarding products.
• Maintain high standards of product presentation and quality.
• Ensure all food products are stored, labelled, and handled correctly.
• Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic deli counter and work area.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
• Operate the point of sale system and process customer orders accurately.
• Assist with receiving, checking, and storing deliveries when required.
• Work closely with the wider restaurant team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements

• Must currently reside in Malta.
• Previous experience in a deli, salumeria, food retail, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment will be considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of Italian cold cuts, cheeses, antipasti, and other deli products is an advantage.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Italian or other languages will be considered an advantage.
• Friendly, professional, and customer-focused attitude.
• Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
