Renison University College, affiliated with the University of Waterloo, and located on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Attawandaron (Neutral) peoples, invites applications for a two-year Definite Term Lecturer appointment at the level of Lecturer in the School of Social Work to commence August 1, 2022

The successful candidate will be required to teach BSW- and MSW- level courses from a range of theoretical frameworks, including critical perspectives. BSW- and MSW- level courses are offered on-campus and online. Applicants must demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching, with preference given to applicants with online teaching experience and teaching, practice, and scholarship in the area of health (broadly defined in relation to the social and structural determinants of health and well-being) and health services. The successful candidate will demonstrate engagement with the mission statement of the School in their teaching and scholarship. Candidates who will bring Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) knowledges and pedagogies to the School and members of equity-deserving groups are preferred.

The appointment will carry a teaching load of seven (7) courses over three academic terms (Fall, Winter, Spring/Summer). The successful candidate will begin teaching in August 2022 during the MSW on-campus Summer Institute when a one-week intensive MSW course is offered.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a BSW or MSW degree, and a PhD (or near completion) in Social Work or a related discipline. Substantial practice experience in social work, social policy, and/or community engagement is required, as is experience working with diverse and marginalized populations.
