Job Location: Pleasant View Home - Inman, KS 67546The following job functions have been determined as essential to the position of Deep Cleaner at Pleasant View Home. Work load demands may require tasks to overlap and the frequency of the tasks may vary.
- Perform assigned tasks in accordance with The Pleasant View Home policies and procedures, and as instructed by supervisor.
- Maintain privacy for residents and confidentiality of resident information.
- Maintain dignity and respect for residents, personal and property rights.
- Learn work schedules and assignments. Notify supervisor of pending absence or tardiness within the time frame described in personnel handbook.
- Attention to detail for all jobs that are performed.
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily schedules, such as:
- Clean furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units in resident rooms, recreational areas, dining room, nurses’ stations, break room and other areas of the physical facility.
- Clean bathrooms: wash, sanitize and polish fixtures. Remove water marks. Empty trash cans. Fill dispensers for toilet paper, paper towels, soap, hand sanitizers.
- Clean windows, drapes, privacy curtains and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms and entrance and exit ways.
- Clean carpets: vacuum, deodorize and disinfect.
- Clean Floors: sweep, dust, damp/wet mop.
- Clean walls and ceilings: wash, wipe, dust, spot clean, disinfect, deodorize.
- Discard waste and trash into proper containers and re-line receptacles with plastic liner.
- Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions, spills, excess carts, baskets, supplies, and equipment.
- Report all incidents, accidents, hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor immediately.
- Attend in-service education classes, on-the-job training programs, compliance courses, etc. as scheduled or as directed.
- Comply with established infection control and precaution practices.
- Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.
- Follow fire safety policies and procedures.
- Report defective, burned out or broken resident call lights, light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, and fluorescent lights to the supervisor immediately.
- Report any damage to the rooms to your supervisor immediately so that maintenance can be informed.
- Establish and encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in residents' activity preferences and needs.
- Follow established smoking regulations and report violations.
The following job functions have been determined to be of marginal priority to the position of Deep Cleaner at Pleasant View Home, Inc.
- Properly set up appropriate “Caution” and safety signs before performing cleaning tasks.
- Assure that work assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored during work periods, as well as before leaving the area for breaks, meals, and end of work day.
- Turn in and/or report all lost and found items to supervisor.
- Assist others in lifting heavy equipment and supplies (with or without accommodations), as directed or requested.
- Report scarcity of supplies.
- Clean equipment, carts, etc.
- Perform terminal cleaning procedures.
- Participate in and assist in departmental projects as directed.
- Assist with completion of appropriate forms and reports when instructed.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QualificationsSkills and Abilities Required
The following skills are needed to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Read, write and speak the English language.
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agency personnel and the general public.
- Be a minimum of (18) years of age.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and appearance of work areas.
- Have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to interact with residents based on the maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
- Be willing to incorporate new methods and principles into existing practices.
Physical and Environmental Conditions and Requirements
This position routinely requires a moderate amount of strength and agility, and the use of equipment and chemicals to successfully complete work assignments.
- Required to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
- Are exposed to, and trained to work in, an environment with infectious materials, odors, hazardous chemicals, and other situations associated with health care.
- Should have the ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents, with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to self or others.
