Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform In-process and final inspections in accordance with the Repair Station, QMS and approved/ accepted data as required. Ensure all inspections and work is completed and documented prior to release from manufacturing or repair process.
  • Perform part/ component final certification under the Part 145 & 21 System.
  • Ensure all manufacturing personnel comply with current Federal Aviation Regulations, QMS, and approved policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and positive customer service attitude without compromising quality.
  • Ensure manufacturing personnel are utilizing approved or accepted data issued by MIDO, Manufacturer or FAA.
  • Conduct internal and external facility audits as required.
  • Ensure adequate inspection aids, special tools and equipment are available, and maintained in a serviceable condition.
  • Assist the Chief Inspector with oversight of facility technician training requirements.
  • Assist the Chief Inspector with maintaining facility personnel roster and authorizations.
  • Assist the Chief Inspector with oversight of the facility tool control and tool calibration program.
  • Ensure incoming parts, supplies, and articles receive an incoming inspection (Receiving Inspection) to determine the proper certification and required documentation are present.
  • Ensure no defective, non-conformed or un-airworthy parts are installed in any component or assembly released to service.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures for preliminary inspections, hidden damage inspections, inspection continuity and final inspection for items processed by the facility.
  • Perform work as assigned by the Chief Inspector and Part 21 Accountable Manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an aviation manufacturing environment.
  • Must be eligible for ARD certification.
  • A&P Liscence preferred.
  • Previous QA Inspection experience preferred.
  • Understanding of FAA Repair Station, MIDO and manufacturing record requirements.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing & repair processes and additional special processes as required under FAR part 145 and 21.
  • Advanced knowledge of aviation manufacturing and repair processes.
  • Must be able to utilize AMM, IPC, Engineering Data, Wiring diagrams and blue prints in order to perform inspections.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must be able to utilize inspection and Measuring tools such as Micrometers, Calipers and Voltmeters.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to utilize the Microsoft suite of programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
