Who You Are…

Priority Worldwide is seeking a long-term, reliable Declarations Agent. They will be responsible for maintaining healthy, mutually beneficial relationships with Priority Worldwide's international freight forwarding vendors and regulatory agencies. Attention to detail and willingness to learn are essential qualities. Candidates must be accommodating to different cultures and willing to work with people that may possess few English-speaking skills.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Experience of minimum 3 years working in freight forwarding industry specifically Customs operations
• A Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding or EACFFPC (East Africa Custom and freight forwarding practicing certificate ).
• A valid motorcycle license is preferred, or the ability to reliably travel independently between the office, ports, airports, customs offices, and other required locations as needed.
• Must have knowledge of government procedures & customs laws relating to imports, exports, and transit goods for air, sea, and road freight cargo.
• Comprehensive HS code knowledge and a high degree of accuracy in identifying and using the correct ones.
• Strong computer skills

What you will do…

At the heart of our business, this person is responsible for timely, efficient, and cost­ effective movement, routing, occasional quoting of international freight, traffic including customs regulations, documentation preparation, and country regulations. We are a service company that strives to provide the Ultimate Customer Experience for our clients. A friendly attitude and teamwork are essential to maintaining healthy vendor relations and interoffice moral.

General Responsibilities:

• Reviewing import documents and advising operations team on the local custom requirements.
• Ensuring all documents required for clearance are in order for lodgment to customs
• Providing tax estimates and advising on the correct tariff codes.
• Advising operation team on the required documents to lodge all types of shipments in the system including being conversant with the correct APC applicable depending on the type of the shipment.
• Keep a track on the shipment arrival/lodgment of manifest/discharge of cargo and transfer to ICD or place of clearance dates.
• Ensuring that declaration is done correctly and timely upon receipt of all clearing documents from the client
• Processing documentation in the TANCIS, Single Window, TBS, GCLA, DPW system.
• Representing client in case of any query from any government body pertaining to the applied Tariff code/Uplifts on Freight or FOB/APC/TBS rejections etc.
• Advising operations team on any changes in custom procedures/tariffs and current developments i.e. TRA, DPW, GCLA, TBS, Single Window System etc.

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

• Salary Range: 750,000 TZS-950,000 TZS per month, depending on experience
