The Supervisor position requires 5 years of experience as a supervisor in repair and maintenance efforts onboard U.S. Navy ships in the Trade Skill they are supervising and On-Site Supervisors must reflect the same (2 years) experience, training, and qualifications, as the Tradesperson they are supervising. These periods of experience cannot overlap.
Required Skills and Experiences: Supervisors shall possess 5 years experience supervising the following requirements:
Typical Trade Task:
a. Repair, rip out, and/or re-install various shipboard deck surfaces such as linoleum, deck tile, ceramic tile, epoxy finishes and ablative tiles.
b. Use trade powered equipment to template and pre-fabricate decking materials for shipboard installation.
Trade Skill Requirements: Supervisor shall also possess same (2 years) experience, training, and qualifications, as the Tradesperson they are supervising as listed below:
a. Tile Setter Supervisor shall have a minimum of two (2) years of experience performing decking resurfacing operations on/in commercial ships or U.S. Navy ships/submarines.
b. Tile Setter Supervisor shall be trained and proficient with installations of a minimum of three of the following deck surfaces: linoleum, deck tile, ceramic tile, epoxy finishes and ablative tiles.
c. Tile Setter Supervisor must be trained and proficient at installation techniques of each decking types. This includes surface preparation, space/materials layout, selection of adhesives and decking material characteristics.
d. Tile Setter Supervisor shall be trained and proficient with operations of trade powered equipment such as cutters and cement/epoxy mixing machines.
e. Deck Tile Setter Supervisor shall be trained and qualified to wear respiratory protection devices.
