Job Description

The Senior Financial Decision Support Analyst plays a pivotal role in enhancing the analytical capabilities of the organization as it relates to the financial management of current and prospective operations. The role will facilitate organizational awareness pertaining to financial operations through the development, dissemination, and education around service line profitability, cost accounting, and operational management reporting. The role also acts as a liaison between Finance and the Strategy/Network Development team to support the evaluation of various business growth opportunities and strategic initiatives through the generation of complex financial models and ROI analyses.

  • Develop, maintain, and improve the cost accounting structure to enable accurate costing of patient activity for Connecticut Children’s entities
  • Educate business unit leaders on cost accounting theory to ensure understanding of costs among rendered services
  • Serve as key liaison between Finance and the Strategy/Network development team pertaining to the evaluation of business opportunities
  • Develop models to estimate incremental net revenue, expenses, and ROI to evaluate business growth opportunities, partnerships, joint ventures, strategic growth plans, and other business development
  • Develop, report, and provide analyses of business and financial operations to leaders across the organization
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of various models that support the estimation and analysis of monthly financial results
  • Provide analytical support to special projects and surveys, including certificate of need (CON) applications, COVID provider relief funding reporting and administration, and other enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Facilitate department and service line leaders in understanding their financial results from both a cost and revenue perspective and develop analyses that lead to actionable insights
  • Establish analytical best practices for the development and maintenance of financial processes, reports, and planning tools
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Revenue and Reimbursement team pertaining to EPIC Contracting
  • Support other ad hoc projects as needed by identifying and developing financial data solutions
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on the above duties to facilitate enterprise-wide system upgrades, enhancements, and conversions

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, quantitative, and/or analytical discipline required; Master’s degree in business/finance preferred
  • Five-to-eight years of analyst level financial systems and decision support experience
  • Experience in healthcare setting and/or healthcare consulting preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Knowledge:

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Comfort manipulating, interpreting, and summarizing large data sets
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a strong attention to detail

Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to engage with a wide variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively and drive projects forward

Ability:

  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, follow-up on and quickly reprioritize issues
  • Ability to work with and learn multiple financial and reporting systems
