Job Description
We are seeking a senior Decision Support & Performance Improvement Advisor with deep healthcare finance and analytics experience to support client organizations in making informed, data-driven decisions. This role is designed for a seasoned professional who can quickly assess complex health system data, translate analytics into operational insight, and work consultatively with executive, clinical, and operational leaders to drive measurable improvement. This individual will play a critical role in performance improvement initiatives, including labor productivity, length of stay optimization, and physician productivity and compensation analysis.
Key responsibilities will vary by engagement and may include a combination of the following:
Decision Support & Analytics Leadership
- Serve as the decision support analytics subject matter expert, guiding the development and implementation of dashboards and reporting to support key clinical, operational, and financial initiatives.
- Design, maintain, and oversee service line profitability analysis, cost accounting methodologies, statistical reporting, and pro forma development.
- Partner closely with FP&A to support annual operating budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range strategic and program planning.
Productivity, LOS & Performance Improvement Analysis
- Conduct detailed labor productivity analysis across nursing, ancillary, and support services, translating findings into actionable improvement opportunities.
- Perform length of stay (LOS) and throughput analysis by service line, DRG, and physician, partnering with clinical and operational leaders to identify drivers of variation and improvement opportunities.
- Support continuous performance improvement initiatives by quantifying financial impact, tracking results, and supporting operational accountability.
Physician Economics, Contracting & Compensation Analysis
- Analyze physician productivity and economics using wRVUs, case mix, access, panel size, and utilization metrics.
- Support physician compensation modeling, benchmarking, and compliance-aligned analysis.
- Develop and maintain payer contract models and reimbursement analyses, supporting managed care strategy and underpayment identification.
Data, Systems & Reporting Expertise
- Develop ad hoc and recurring financial and clinical reports using enterprise data repositories and decision support tools.
- Leverage healthcare analytics platforms, data warehouses, and reporting tools (e.g., Epic Clarity, Resolute, Meditech BCA, Strata, SQL-based environments, and visualization tools) to deliver reliable, decision-ready insights.
- Ensure data integrity, documentation, and transparency across all decision support outputs.
Consultative Engagement & Stakeholder Partnership
- Serve as a trusted, consultative advisor to executive, operational, and clinical leaders, responding to complex analytical requests and translating data into clear recommendations.
- Support Board, Finance Committee, and executive presentations through development of clear, credible financial and operational materials.
- Participate in interdisciplinary committees focused on resource utilization, quality, managed care, revenue cycle, and continuous improvement.
Financial Operations & Governance Support
- Support month-end close, management reporting, audit support, cost reports, and regulatory filings as needed, particularly in smaller or transitional environments.
- Contribute to operational and financial assessments, including work performed on behalf of lenders, bondholders, and governing bodies.
