As a Decision Scientist at Vinted, your work will have a tangible impact on millions of members, helping build a safe, trustworthy marketplace so people can buy and sell sustainably with confidence.

We are looking for a Decision Scientist to join our Account Verification team within the Security domain. You will join a cross-functional team dedicated to ensuring that accounts are protected from unauthorized access. From multi-factor authentication and biometrics to phone verification and account recovery, our goal is to make security industry-leading yet effortless.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving and is passionate about using data to drive meaningful and fast change. You will act as a strategic partner, leveraging data to challenge assumptions, quantify trade-offs (balancing security protection vs. user friction), and shape our product strategy

In this position, you’ll

• Drive Data-Informed Decisions: Partner with product manager, engineers, and designers to identify strategic opportunities, challenge default assumptions, and bring an evidence-based lens to product discovery.
• Balance Security & Member Friction: Model and analyze the trade-offs between security controls and user experience.
• Champion Rigorous Experimentation: Define tracking requirements, design A/B tests, and evaluate test results to validate the business impact of new verification methods and friction-reduction initiatives.
• Own Team Metrics & Root-Cause Analysis: Define, monitor, and iterate on key performance indicators (KPIs) for Account Verification; proactively investigate metric anomalies and uncover root causes.
• Empower Stakeholders: Build and maintain self-service Looker dashboards that enable stakeholders to independently track feature performance.
• Make Data Count: Participate actively in Vinted’s broader Data Science & Analytics (DSA) community, promoting analytical best practices, metric rigor, and knowledge-sharing.

About you

• Experience in a Decision Science or Data Analytics role.
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance depth of analysis with business impact.
• Working experience with SQL and Python or R
• Experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
• Knowledge of statistical methods, such as A/B testing, regression analysis, and other inferential techniques.
• Highly results-oriented and comfortable with iterative processes
• Strong communicator who can convincingly present results to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Advantage: experience working in the Trust & Safety or Fraud-related area.
