Job Description

We are recruiting a Programme Executive to join a Decarbonised Heat and Bioenergy Research team within a leading Irish public sector energy authority. The team plays a central role in research and policy support for decarbonising heat across multiple sectors, contributing directly to Ireland's National Climate Action Plan.

You will report to the Programme Manager leading the Decarbonised Heat and Bioenergy Research team and work alongside colleagues in district heating, sustainable energy communities and renewable electricity programmes. The role involves ad hoc nationwide travel and attendance at events.

Key Details

  • Salary: €53,071
  • Annual leave: 29 days plus public holidays
  • Working week: 35 hours per week
  • Blended working: minimum 2 days per week in office
  • Work location: Dublin, Dundalk, Cork or Sligo

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of guidance for Local Heating and Cooling Plans, ensuring alignment with national legislation and EU directives
  • Engage with stakeholders across sectors to co-create practical guidance for end users
  • Assist with dissemination, data cataloguing and analysis arising from the National Heating and Cooling Assessment
  • Deliver technical and analytical support across projects, including scoping, reviewing and providing constructive recommendations
  • Communicate complex findings clearly through reports and presentations for a range of audiences
  • Liaise with and project manage external consultants
  • Provide general research and administrative support for programme tracking

Essential Requirements

  • Level 8 degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Systems or a related STEM discipline
  • Minimum 3 years' directly relevant experience in renewable energy, decarbonised heat, energy efficiency or a related field (a relevant master's degree may substitute for one year's experience)
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating data, technical options and research
  • Experience coordinating projects and managing deliverables across multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical reports to diverse audiences

Desirable

  • Experience analysing low-carbon alternatives to fossil fuels, particularly in the heating sector
  • Familiarity with EU and national directives on renewable energy, decarbonisation and energy efficiency
  • Proficiency in data analysis, modelling, spatial analysis or techno-economic evaluations
  • Project management qualifications
  • Experience collaborating with government, industry or community stakeholders
  • Knowledge of emerging research and publications in decarbonised heat and energy in Ireland and internationally
