The School of Arts and Sciences at the American International University in Kuwait comprises disciplines in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, Mathematics, English Literature, Humanities, and Education The School offers a broadinterdisciplinaryfoundation in the natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, and education, equippingstudentswithcriticalthinking, analytical, communication, and researchskillsessentialforacademic and professionalsuccess

ScopeofWork

The Dean ofthe School of Arts and Sciences serves as thechiefacademicofficer, providingstrategicvision and operationalleadershipforthe School. The Dean promotesexcellence in teaching, scholarship, and communityengagement; supports innovative academicprograms; and advancesdiversity in faculty and studentrecruitment The role alsoinvolvesfosteringinterdisciplinarycollaboration, strengtheningconnectionswith local and internationalcommunities, and enhancingtheSchool'svisibility and resources tosupportitsacademicmission and future growth

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for the School of Arts and Sciences, including academic programs, faculty, and operations across all disciplines.
• Oversee curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement to ensure academic quality and relevance.
• Manage budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
• Lead faculty recruitment, development, and performance management.
• Promote research and maintain active engagement with the Advisory Committee, accreditation, and quality assurance processes aligned with international standards.
• Ensure accurate external communications and strengthen industry partnerships, internships, and experiential learning opportunities.
• Represent the School in university leadership and contribute to institutional strategy.

MinimumQualifications

The ideal candidate shalldemonstrateexperience in professional and academic positions, as well as a strongrecord in teaching and outstandingacademicachievements at theinternationallevel The candidate isexpectedtodemonstrateongoingcontributions in theirfieldofspecializationthroughpublishedresearch in recognizedinternationalscientificjournals, as well as participation in exhibitions, conferences, and symposiums, in additiontopossessingthefollowingdegrees, qualifications, and professionalexperience

• Ph.Dorequivalentfrom a recognizeduniversity

• The rankofProfessor in oneoftheSchool'sdisciplines.

• A recordofexcellence in teaching and researchappropriatetotherankofProfessor in oneoftheSchool's disciplines.

• Leadershipqualities and a provenresearchbackground in a discipline representedwithinthe School.

• A clearvisionfordevelopinghighereducation in general and fortheSchool in particular.

• Full familiaritywiththecredithour and academicyear (semester) system

• Distinguishedmanagerialexperience in theaffairsofhighereducation, preferably at thelevelof a collegedean in a reputableuniversity

• Experiencewiththestandardsofprogramaccreditationbyspecializedcommissions at nationaleducationinstitutions

• Acumen in theareaof human resources and administrative and financialconcepts, practices, policies, and procedures

• Strong communicationskills and theabilitytoworkeffectivelywithlargesectorsof a diverse community

• Experience in communicatingwithuniversities, professional and academicinstitutions, associations, unions, companies and businessadministrationinstitutions, and otherinstitutionswithinthefieldofeducation and research

• Bi-lingualproficiency in English and Arabic(spoken and written) is a plus

• Demonstratedabilityto lead and support diverse academic disciplines acrossthesciences, humanities, and education

• Experienceworkingwithin American, American-style, orinternationallyaccreditedhighereducationsystemsispreferred
