GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Dean of Student Services at Hinds Community College serves as the primary point of contact for their assigned campus and acts as the main liaison for all Student Services. The Dean maintains direct communication with departmental leads to oversee daily operations and staff within student services. They address student concerns, advocate for their needs, and actively engage in strategic planning, policy development, and the implementation of programs aimed at enriching the student experience.
By fostering collaboration with faculty, staff, and leadership, the Dean plays a critical role in promoting student success, enhancing enrollment and retention efforts, and creating an inclusive campus culture. Additionally, the Dean is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that engage students, support their well-being, and align with the college’s mission to foster academic and personal success for all students.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
(if applicable) Supervise the administrative assistant in the Dean of Students Office, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; providing recognition and discipline; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
