CHASSE seeks a Dean who will empower the college’s 10 departments and schools, strengthen their achievements, and provide transformative leadership for innovative, future-facing degrees and curricula. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished leader with the passion and ability to advance the humanities and liberal arts, further applied learning opportunities and build community connections in order to prepare students with critical skills needed to lead in this fast-paced, ever-evolving society. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will work cooperatively with the faculty, department chairs, other deans, the Provost, and the Chancellor to develop and implement the college’s and university’s plans and other institutional goals. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Required Education and/or Experience
Terminal degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
At least 5 years of administrative experience;
Proven track record of leading and managing organizational change.
Preferred Education/Experience
An interest or experience in fundraising;
Strong communication skills;
Experience growing a department, school, or organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic plan for the college that aligns with university mission, vision and strategic plan;
Provide visionary, collaborative leadership in all aspects of college operation, finances and mission;
Recruit, develop and retain diverse, highly qualified faculty from every discipline in the college who will advance the university mission and strategic plan;
Generate real revenue from enrollment, research grants and giving, lead major fundraising efforts, developing significant sources of private funds and building on existing sustainable endowments;
Build on the unique advantages of the university's location in Little Rock by developing partnerships with the community;
Work collaboratively with faculty, other deans, provost and chancellor to develop and implement strategic goals;
Raise the state, regional and national profile of the college and its programs;
Represent the college before all internal and external stakeholders, including employers, state and federal organizations and the community at large;
Advance excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, both in-person and online;
Promote an environment and obtain resources to foster an increase in research and scholarship appropriate to the University's Carnegie designation;
Perform other duties as assigned.
