Bright Motion is the Madison-based company through which founder Justin Beck builds, operates and invests in businesses. Justin co-founded PerBlue with UW–Madison roommates in 2009, bootstrapped it into a mobile games studio, and launched Disney Heroes: Battle Mode with Disney, which reached 30 million players. Along the way he sold DragonSoul to GREE and latest company Playback Rewards' technology to Entravision, and received UW–Madison's Early Career Award from the College of Engineering.

About us

We've been building and operating businesses for the last 18 years, mostly in consumer entertainment and apps, and we were founded by UW alums in Madison. Now we're expanding our strategic investments by buying or investing in software and software-related business (es). The work is confidential; we'll share details in the interview.

The role

A part-time position on our deal team, helping with deal sourcing, strategy, diligence, and coordinating the logistics that keep deals moving.

What you'll do

• Find companies that could be a fit, and research them.
• Help with diligence: gather documents, organize the numbers, and track open questions.
• Coordinate logistics: calls, meetings, follow-ups and next steps with owners, brokers and advisors.
• Keep our pipeline organized: who we've talked to, what they said, and what happens next.
• Follow up quickly and keep things moving.

This is for you if you

• Are ambitious and want a career in private equity, investing, business or startups.
• Can handle complex phone and video calls competently with limited direction.
• Are very organized and very responsive. Strong written communications.
• Can work on your own without being told every step. Able to use AI tools effectively
• Soak things up, and take feedback easily.
• Have real time to put in. This isn't a fit alongside a heavy course load unless you're extremely on top of your studies.

Qualifications

• Your own computer, a reliable internet connection, and a webcam for video calls.
• Comfortable using AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to research, write and get work done faster.
• Able and willing to attend an occasional in-person meeting or site visit when needed. It won't be common, and travel expenses are paid.
• A current student, available for a temporary part-time position.
