The Dual Enrollment Physics Teacher plans, organizes, and implements a rigorous college-level instructional program in a secondary learning environment that prepares and challenges scholars to meet the academic expectations of both the high school and partnering post-secondary institution. This position is responsible for delivering Physics coursework that satisfies dual enrollment articulation agreements and applicable college or university curriculum standards. Work is performed under the supervision of the Principal and in coordination with the designated higher education partner institution.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to both state high school science standards and the partnering college or university's Physics course curriculum requirements.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments, and syllabi in accordance with dual enrollment articulation agreements and established school procedures.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials, laboratory equipment, and safety protocols appropriate to college-level Physics coursework.
• Use relevant technology to support, differentiate, and enhance instruction, including tools appropriate for STEM and lab-based learning environments.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom and laboratory by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures consistent with both school policy and the expectations of a college-level course.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
• Provide appropriate, timely, and college-caliber feedback on student work, assessments, and laboratory reports.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students; use data to adjust instructional strategies and provide targeted academic support.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development in compliance with school requirements and dual enrollment reporting obligations.
• Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, school policies, school regulations, and the partnering institution's dual enrollment program requirements.
• Prepare required reports on student performance and course activities for both school administration and the partnering college or university.
• Participate in department, school, and parent meetings, as well as any required faculty orientations, trainings, or meetings conducted by the partner institution.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, parents, and the partnering institution regarding student progress, course expectations, and dual enrollment requirements.
• Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all instructional activities, consistent with college-level course outcomes.
• Prepare the classroom and laboratory for instructional activities; ensure lab safety standards are maintained at all times.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources appropriate for college-level Physics, including laboratory experiments, simulations, and supplementary academic resources.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and development in alignment with both school grading policies and the academic standards of the partnering institution.
• Assign and grade coursework, homework, laboratory reports, tests, and assessments consistent with college-level expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
Education: Bachelor's degree in Physics, or a closely related field required. Master's degree in Physics or a physical science discipline strongly preferred; a Master's degree may be required to satisfy the partnering college or university's dual enrollment instructor credentialing requirements.
Experience: Two to three (2–3) years of experience teaching Physics or a related science in a formal secondary or post-secondary academic setting preferred. Prior experience teaching dual enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), or college-level coursework preferred.
Special Skills:
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Physics; ability to teach at the introductory college level is required.
• Familiarity with dual enrollment program structures, articulation agreements, and partner institution faculty credentialing requirements.
• Ability to enforce high standards of behavior, academic integrity, laboratory safety, and professional conduct in oneself and with students.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Professional and approachable disposition with the ability to hold students to college-level expectations while supporting their success.
• Proficiency with computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite tools.

Physical functions: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office and laboratory equipment. Reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, including laboratory materials and equipment.
Equipment used: Frequent computer use is expected. Regular use of laboratory equipment, safety materials, and instructional technology tools specific to Physics instruction.
Work Environment: Primarily a classroom and laboratory environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather. Laboratory settings require adherence to established safety protocols at all times.
