The role can be based in either Uppsala, Kristiansand, or Copenhagen.

Hybrid = +3 days a week in the office

This job ad is for you who have:

  • Solid experience working with DDoS mitigation, firewall technologies and network security in complex network infrastructure environments
  • Hands on Netscout / Arbor product Sightline
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade firewalls and security platforms (e.g. Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point and/or similar)
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, routing, switching and traffic analysis
  • 5+ years' experience with incident handling and troubleshooting in mission-critical production environments
  • Security clearance - HEM in Denmark or can obtain it.
  • Professional communication skills in English as this is our company language (Nordic language skills are an advantage)

About the role and the team

You will become part of a highly skilled security and network operations environment currently consisting of 15 skilled and dedicated people responsible for protecting critical digital infrastructure across Northern Europe. The team safeguards core network, fibre and service platforms against external and internal threats while ensuring stability, scalability, and performance.

The team is divided across Kristiansand, Uppsala and Copenhagen, with Frida Klarlund being the manager for the team, based in Copenhagen.

As DDoS & Firewall Specialist with GlobalConnect, you will be part of a specialized team of 5 people responsible for protecting production environments from cyber threats, with particular focus on DDoS prevention and mitigation, firewall governance and traffic control. The Operations team is part of an on-call rotation. You will work closely with Network Engineering, Security Operations, Service Assurance and external partners to ensure robust defensive mechanisms and fast response to incidents.

This role combines operational responsibility with continuous improvement, projects, and customer solutions. You will contribute to strengthening detection capabilities, refining mitigation strategies, and improving automation and resilience across platforms.

Key Responsibilities and what you will do during a typical week:

  • Monitor, analyze and mitigate DDoS attacks and other network-based threats in real time
  • Configure, optimize and maintain firewall policies and security rules across network and IT environments
  • Perform traffic analysis, threat hunting and root cause investigations to prevent recurring incidents
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure implementation of network changes and new services in projects
  • Drive continuous improvement of DDoS protection mechanisms, firewall governance and automation initiatives together with the customers
  • Contribute to reporting, risk assessments and documentation of security posture and improvements
