Job Description

The Data Center Operations (DCO) Tech Trainee is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and physically repairing server and network devices within a live data center environment. Through a structured 6-month training program, the trainee develops foundational knowledge in hardware, software/OS, and networking fundamentals. The role involves resolving hardware and network issues using directed workflows and data-driven analysis, following standard operating procedures, and documenting all technical issues clearly in the ticketing system. The trainee safely installs and racks equipment in compliance with health and safety guidelines, participates in on-call duties and scheduled maintenance activities post-training, and collaborates with internal stakeholders during problem resolution. This role requires composure under pressure during critical events and strict adherence to safety, security, and operational policies in all aspects of daily work.

Key job responsibilities
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and physically repair server and network devices through a structured 6-month training program in a live data center.
• Build working knowledge of hardware fundamentals, software and OS fundamentals, and network fundamentals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network issues using directed workflows. Separate hardware from software problems using data-driven analysis.
• Identify the correct SOP for a given technical problem. Use internal and external documentation to guide resolution.
• Document technical issues clearly and in detail in the trouble ticket system. Know when and how to escalate confidently.
• Safely lift, install, and rack equipment using provided lifting tools, including in confined spaces or at height, following health and safety guidelines.
• Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities (starts after training).
• Apply safety, security, and operational policies to all aspects of daily work.
• Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders during problem resolution. Stay composed under pressure during critical events.
• Starts on office hours, transitioning to 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights much later in the program.

Basic Qualifications


- 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience, or experience in networking
- 1+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Understanding of IT service management and DC safety/security
