Job Description

Your Role and Impact

Are you a precision-driven shop mechanic who thrives on tearing down, diagnosing, and rebuilding heavy industrial machinery? Flowserve is seeking a skilled Rotating Equipment / Repair Mechanic to join our fast-paced Quick Response Center (QRC) in Pasadena, TX.

ㅤ

In this role, you won't just be turning wrenches—you will own the complete Dismantle, Clean, and Inspect (DCI) lifecycle for heavy industrial centrifugal pumps, electric actuators, and flow-control hardware. Operating at the technical heartbeat of our shop, your craftsmanship ensures critical infrastructure equipment for major Chemical, LNG, and Refining corridors along the Houston Ship Channel is reconditioned to exact OEM manufacturing tolerances.

ㅤ

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute full mechanical overhauls, teardown, cleaning, and inspection (DCI) on high-energy overhung process pumps (such as Durco Mark 3) and heavy between-bearings multistage pumps (API 610 BB1–BB5 configurations).
  • Perform precision metrology using inside/outside micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and vernier calipers to measure critical fits, clearances, and run-outs; record findings thoroughly on dimensional inspection forms.
  • Execute advanced thermal assembly techniques using controlled induction heaters, heating torches, and liquid nitrogen for precise shrink/interference fits on bearings, sleeves, and impellers.
  • Operate dynamic balancing equipment to precision-balance rotating assemblies, and conduct low-pressure pneumatic and high-pressure hydrostatic testing to verify mechanical seal and casing integrity.
  • Partner directly with applications engineers, manual machinists, and service coordinators to develop tailored repair scopes, solve failure root causes, and minimize customer downtime.
  • Safely operate overhead bridge cranes, rigging hardware, and forklifts to position heavy industrial pump casings and assemblies across the shop floor.
  • Apply industrial protective coatings, install identification and service tags, and package finished equipment for outbound customer shipment.

ㅤ

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3 to 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on mechanical experience rebuilding and overhauling heavy industrial rotating equipment (centrifugal process pumps, high-voltage actuators, or compressors).
  • Demonstrated proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints, engineering cross-sectional drawings, and technical repair specifications.
  • Ownership of a complete personal roll-around toolbox, standard SAE hand tools, and basic precision measurement instruments.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to strict shop safety protocols and Stop Work Authority.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, navigate active shop bays, and lift up to 50 lbs with a full range of motion.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekend shifts, and emergency turnaround call-outs to support 24/7 industrial plant outage demands.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

ㅤ

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct aftermarket repair experience within an industrial pump service center or rotating equipment Quick Response Center (QRC).
  • In-depth familiarization with API 610 centrifugal pump standards and API 682 mechanical seal arrangements.
  • Hands-on experience with dynamic rotor balancing, dynamic pressure testing, or valve actuator reconditioning.
