Job Description

VF Corporation is looking for a Health and Safety and Security Advisor​(fixed term 1 year contract) to join our team based in Belgium.

Let's talk about the role
As the local Health and Safety and Security Advisor of a Distribution Center, you are directly responsible for keeping local management and EMEA Asset Protection Management informed on all levels of risk of any issues or new legislation. You are focused and detailed in executing all safety and security programs to keep the VF employees safe. You are an advocate and influencer capable of leading cross-functional teams to maintain safety and security standards. As a collaborator, you enjoy working with different location /DC managers and departments to generate a positive risk culture throughout VF.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Responsible for oversight of the risk assessments and safety/security programs in the distribution center.
  • Implement an asset protection (AP) culture maintaining each specific location culture.
  • Collaborate with EMEA H&S, DC OPS; Human Resources, maintenance, to be the employee safety representative and external partners
  • Responsible for the development of safety tools, programs, reports and training ensuring a consistent message to minimize risk and control losses.
  • Make sure all incidents (H&S and Security) and accidents are reported and investigated.
  • Minimize risk through tracking and managing all incidents and employee injuries.
  • Support Management / DC leaders in managing safety incidents and emergency procedures.
  • Protect VF’s reputation by ensuring stakeholder awareness for liability exposure and spearheading strategic responses to critical issues.
  • Assures compliance with VF global health & safety and security standards and country regulations.
  • Provide leadership team with guidance on security and confirm compliance with industry, local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain physical security guidelines and operating procedures for the DC.
  • Manage the DC security team (3rd party), meet regularly with their security management to maximize security standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain loss prevention guidelines and operating procedures for Distribution Center.
  • Timely completion of regular security audits and inspections for the DC and follow up of action items.
  • Regularly meet with the EMEA AP team to ensure compliance standards are met, company goals are achieved, and shared best practices are being implemented.
  • Work closely with Law Enforcement officials on the investigation of suspected criminal activity.


Skills for Success:

  • Related Professional Experience: 2-5 years
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Ability to provide professional support to the local management
  • Ability to lead and train cross departmental/brand teams and achieve results
  • Working knowledge of Safety/Security Regulations (Local and VF standard) in a DC environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly (verbally and written).
  • Follows through/executes all tasks, assignments and job duties in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Strong presentation preparation and presenting skills.
  • Self-motivated and driven.
  • Proficiency using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or certification of H&S and Fire, a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an operational work environment.
  • Experience in Security
  • Experience in project management and/or in leadership role preferred.

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Some travel by air and overnight, as required.
  • Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items.
