About the Location

Collaborative Work Environment:At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). Our hybrid approach is designed to foster strong collaboration while also supporting flexibility and individual success.

Onsite Position:

This position is considered to be Fully Onsite, work is to be done onsite at a PetSmart location (Phoenix Home Office, PetSmart stores, Merchandise Development Center, Distribution Centers or another PetSmart site).

Field Position:

This position is considered Field based and is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Field associates will spend their time both traveling to and spending time in various PetSmart locations and can expect to be asked to travel to Phoenix Home Office periodically throughout the year. Field associates typically work out of their home office when not traveling as outlined above.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position manages all associates in the daily performance of their job function. Responsible for leading and developing a team that supports the health and welfare of aquatic animals through effective husbandry practices, water quality management, inventory control, and operational excellence. Oversees daily aquatics operations, ensures compliance with company standards and animal care protocols, and drives team performance through coaching, training, and accountability.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

    • Operates all facets of the fish department to include operational reporting, production standards, inventory control and partnership with outside operational departments.
    • Maintains and develops effective plans, objectives and goals to be carried out by the department.
    • Provides clear lines of responsibility and delegates effectively. Listens attentively and responds in a sensitive and appropriate manner. Must be able to multi-task and delegate work to meet daily goals of on time delivery to customers.
    • Completes all quality and safety issues and other responsibilities to ensure consistency in policy and procedure within the building. Coach and train department supervisors and associates.
    • Acts professional and treats all associates with respect and dignity. Leads by example and develops team for peak performance. Motivates associates to achieve outstanding results. Strengthen team by sharing information, establishing guidelines and celebrating success.
    • Communicates in an effective, professional and efficient manner. Communicates with other department managers and with associates to ensure workflow. Also communicates with external vendors and retail stores and with management at the corporate level.
    • Suggests opportunities to enhance budget.
  • This role requires collaboration, teamwork, and face-to-face interaction with colleagues, leaders, and/or clients.
  • Being in the office ensures access to leaders, cross-functional partners, and resources necessary to make timely decisions and drive results.
  • On-site presence in accordance with our FlexSmart policy supports our culture of innovation, mentorship, and engagement, which is integral to our success in developing the best team.
