Job Description

Full-time position reporting directly to the Operations Manager. Under general direction, this position will be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations for the day shift.

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

  • Plan direct, manage and coordinate all areas of activities and employees for the warehouse day shift.
  • Responsible for the order pulling, breakage/spoilage, safety, and equipment operation.
  • Responsible for directing and assisting employees in keeping the warehouse organized & clean.
  • Responsible for inbound trucks being scheduled
  • Responsible for warehouse inventory.
  • Responsible for accurate management of time and attendance system.
  • Responsible for accurately recording warehouse breakage/spoilage & subsequent adjustments.
  • Responsible for making sure replenishment is completed daily.
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse.
  • Must be able to do all aspects of Cycle Counts and product tracking.
  • Help train new employees in the proper techniques and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring forklift certification/testing is completed on all employees.
  • Repetitive heavy lifting will be required.
  • Responsible for all procedures of checking in trucks.
  • Responsible for all procedures for receiving product into aurora and making sure the product is put away in the proper locations
  • Communicate well with management and co-workers to shift manpower to needed areas.
  • Review production daily with management and discuss any issues.
  • Use all available technology to achieve the best results.
  • Provides direct leadership to Supervisors and Day Warehouse employees.
  • Provides analysis and development of the unloading process including quality, safety and cost reduction.
  • Develops and establishes plans, operating objectives, goals and performance standards for warehouse operations.
  • Ensures that safe operating procedures and practices are followed and monitors compliance with all recommended OSHA regulations.
  • Responsible for keeping warehouse organized and clean.
  • Responsible for adhering to and ensuring employees adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School diploma required
  • Minimum 1 years supervisory experience in warehouse operations required. .
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to plan and control logistics.
  • Minimum 1 year previous material handling equipment experience required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of OSHA regulations and laws and willing to enforce safety procedures.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively.
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of employees and vendors effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must have mature judgment regarding handling of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficient knowledge of basic computer applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must have basic mathematical skills and be able to operate a calculator.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must have and be able to maintain100/300/100 insurance limits.
  • Must be able to pass background checks. (i.e., reference checks, police backgrounds, etc.)
  • Motor vehicle records will be pulled to establish employment eligibility:
  • Cannot have more than two (2): moving violations and/or at-fault vehicle accidents (any combination) in the past three (3) years (for speeding, violations must be under 16mph)
  • Cannot have more than one (1): speeding violation of 16-29mph OR at-fault accident in the past three (3) years
  • Cannot have a major violation such as: DUI/DWI, hit-and-run, reckless driving, and/or super speeder (29+mph) violation in the past five (5) years
  • Drug Free Workplace.
  • Must have the ability to work in a warehouse environment and various weather conditions.
  • There will be long hours and must be able to work until the shift is complete, there is no definite quitting time.

About Georgia Crown Distributing Co

Founded in August 1938 by the late Fate D. Leebern, Georgia Crown Distributing Company is a family-owned business. First known as Columbus Wine Company Distributors, the company unloaded the first carload of legal liquor in Columbus following the end of Prohibition.

Four generations of Leeberns have formed the leadership of Georgia Crown: Fate D. Leebern, Donald Leebern, Sr., Donald M. Leebern, Jr. and Don Leebern III. Following the death of Fate D. Leebern in 1946, Donald Leebern, Sr. took command until 1957 when Donald M. Leebern, Jr. took over. In September 1987, the fourth generation, Don Leebern III joined the company. Don Leebern III is the current President of Georgia Crown and Don Leebern, Jr. is the CEO.

Georgia Crown Distributing Co. is a full service beverage distributor with wholesale operations in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee, selling imported and domestic spirits, wines, beers and specialty products. In 1990, Georgia Crown entered the home and office bottled water business with its new division, Poland Spring Water Distributing Company. One year later, it opened its first bottling plant that produced bottled water from its spring in Dahlonega, Georgia. The home and office water division is now named Melwood Springs, with the bottling facility located in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Georgia Crown's corporate office is located in McDonough, Georgia, centralizing all corporate sales direction, administration, information systems and accounting functions. Centralization of these functions has proven beneficial both to Georgia Crown, its suppliers and customers. For almost 80 years, Georgia Crown has been growing, changing and diversifying. Georgia Crown is rooted in the past, with a bright and challenging vision for the future.
