Job Description

The Position

The Day Club Assistant provides small group activities implementation and facilitation along with the provision of personal support and care to Club Clients.

This position is offered on a part-time basis working 30 hours per fortnight North of the River at our Day Club in Kinross.

We are looking for a Day Club Assistant that will be available from on the below roster.

Week 1

Monday: 0800-1600

Friday: 0800-1600

Week 2

Monday: 0800-1600

Friday: 0800-1600

Please note, you must be able to commit to all days/shifts to be considered.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties and interactions with management, staff, residents and their families, visiting health professionals and any other person in the work environment
  • Support the maintenance or restoration of the client’s independence
  • Drive a day club van to collect clients from their residence and back, outings in the community
  • Assists the client with maintaining personal hygiene including dental hygiene, laundering personal items, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence hygiene needs
  • Provides appropriate support as documented in specific care plans in regard to medication, nutrition, mobility, social and behavioural and personal care
  • Plans programs and collaborates with colleagues to present activities
  • Maintains open and respectful communication in the workplace with all other staff and colleagues
  • Attends and actively participates in compulsory training sessions and meetings as required by Coordinator

Essential Criteria:

  • Evidence of Current Flu vaccination per Amana Living policies
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment medical and reference checks
  • Proven organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, as required
  • Willingness to attend 1 day paid induction at our Rivervale Training Institute
  • Valid ‘C’ Class Driver’s License and personal vehicle - No restrictions
  • Certificate III in Individual Support - Ageing
  • Experience working with people with dementia
