Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Assists the Center Supervisor in assigned as well as unplanned actions to ensure the successful operation of the day care program.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and meet one of the following:
  1. Have one of the Center Supervisor qualifications;
  2. An endorsement or bachelor's degree in a child-related field such as, but not limited to, elementary education, nursing or recreation;
  3. Six months of programmatic experience and at least one of the following education backgrounds
  • A one-year early childhood certificate that consists of at least 30 semester hours; or
  • A child development credential; or
  • A teaching diploma from an internationally or nationally recognized Montessori organization
  1. Three years of programmatic experience
  • Programmatic experience shall be obtained in a child day center that offers a staff training program that includes: written goals and objectives; the subject areas of first aid, human growth and development, health and safety issues and behavioral management of children.
  • Such employees shall complete a minimum of 60 hours of training during this three year period and provide documentation of completion.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
  • Work requires stooping, reaching, standing, and walking
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
  • The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
  • The worker is subject to noise and may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment
